Lee Hall Mansion offers a variety of programs relating to the Civil War. On-site and
outreach programs are available. Call (757) 888-3371 for fees and schedules. Such
offerings include:

Description:

Take your students on a journey back to
1607 with the explorer and adventurer Captain Christopher Newport. Captain Newport discusses the hardships the English encountered as they built the Powhatan natives.

Description: Take your students on a journey back to April, 1862. The Civil War has come to Virginia’s Peninsula. The students will meet the colorful commander of the Confederate Army of the Peninsula, Major General John Bankhead Magruder. The general will discuss the duties of a general officer and engage the students in a problem solving exercise. Using a map of the Peninsula, the students will help the general address the problem of defending the area against a much larger army. This dynamic and engaging program combines living history and geography for an effective and entertaining educational experience.
