Groups of all ages will learn about the Lee family and the role this home played during the Civil War.

History Van Tour: The World of 1619 Virginia

April 20, 2019 - 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM

Explore the important events of 1619 with Historian J. Michael Moore including the convening of the first representative legislative assembly in the New World, the arrival of the first Africans in English North America, the recruitment of English women to the colonies in significant numbers, and the first official English Thanksgiving in North America. Most of these historic events took place in close vicinity to Lee Hall. 

Cost is $50.00 per person. Expect extensive walking. The tour leaves from the Lee Hall Mansion parking lot plan to arrive at least twenty minutes before departure. Participants should bring a bag lunch, drink and small cooler. Payment is due no later than two weeks before tour and guarantees your reservation. No refunds one week prior to the tour. Make checks payable to the City of Newport News, mail to Lee Hall Mansion, Attn: J. Michael Moore, 163 Yorktown Road, Newport News, VA 23603.
